FRIENDSHIP WITHOUT BORDERS
Friendship without Borders – an international experience for the students of “Vasile Alecsandri” Secondary School, Roman
Between February and April 2026, the students of “Vasile Alecsandri” Secondary School in Roman had the opportunity to participate in the eTwinning project “Friendship without borders”, an international educational initiative coordinated by prof. Ciurdea Elena Livia, which brought together students and teachers from several European countries.
The main objective of the project was to develop communication skills in English, promote intercultural values, and build friendships beyond borders. Throughout the three months, students were actively involved in various interactive activities designed to stimulate their creativity, teamwork, and openness to other cultures.
Activities carried out
In February, students took their first steps within the project through introductory and get-to-know activities. They created digital materials (presentations, collages, videos) presenting information about themselves, their school, and the city of Roman. The digital platforms used facilitated quick and efficient interaction with international partners.
March was dedicated to cultural exchange. Students explored traditions, customs, and holidays specific to the participating countries, creating posters, quizzes, and comparative presentations. These activities contributed to developing respect for diversity and understanding common European values.
In April, the project focused on strengthening the relationships formed. Students worked in mixed international teams to create final collaborative products such as digital magazines, collaborative stories, and video messages about friendship. The activities were accompanied by online sessions where students communicated directly, practicing English in an authentic context.
Project impact
Participation in the “Friendship without borders” project had a significant impact on the students. They improved their linguistic, digital, and social skills, becoming more confident in using English and more open to international collaboration.
The project also contributed to developing a positive attitude toward diversity and strengthening the sense of belonging to the European community. Students understood that friendship knows no geographical limits and that intercultural dialogue is essential in a globalized world.
Conclusions
The eTwinning project “Friendship without borders” represents a model of good practice in modern education, demonstrating that learning can go beyond the traditional classroom. The involvement of the students from “Vasile Alecsandri” Secondary School in Roman was active and enthusiastic, reflecting their desire to explore, communicate, and build bridges between cultures.
Congratulations to all the students involved and to the project coordinator for their dedication and commitment!
